A Video Game Symphony concert held over Memorial Day weekend. Watch the video here. January 2007 London, England: John records, at Abbey Road studios, a full-orchestral score to the landmark video game: "Lair" for Playstation 3. The epic and melodically haunting score features a 90 piece orchestra. Featured international artists include Karen Han (erhu); Tanya Tsarouska (vocals); Pedro Eustache (world woodwinds); and Lisbeth Scott (lyrics/vocals). October 31st, 2006 John Debney received the first Sal Del Mar Award at the first annual Turks & Caicos International Film Festival in Los Angeles, The award was given to him for hdis work creating compelling music for films from Ildewild to Sin City. October 6th, 2006 Turks & Caicos, Bahamas: John named composer of the Year at the Turks & Caicos Film Festival. October 6th, 2006 John was recently interviewed by KGO AM 810 (in the Bay Area). World famous trumpeter Arturo Sandoval is featured on John's score for Idlewild, a ragtime-inspired musical starring Andre Benjamin and Antwan Patton of R&B duo Outkast. The two artists, known in the musical world as Andre 3000 and Big Boi, play speakeasy performers in the Prohibition-era south that contend with gangsters who have their eyes on the club in which they perform. Brian Barber, who has built a career as a music video director for the Grammy Award winning pair, directs the film. It will be released by Universal Pictures on August 25, with the soundtrack album coming from Varese Sarabande Records on September 12, 2006. July 20th, 2006 - The weekend of August 4, 2006 will see two films released, both featuring music by John Debney. First up is the Warner Bros. animated film The Ant Bully. It is John's second collaboration with writer/director John A. Davis, with whom he worked on Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. With an all star cast, including the voices of Nicholas Cage, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, and Lily Tomlin, the film follows an ant colony that uses a magical potion to shrink an ant hill-destroying boy and attempts to teach him a lesson. July 2006 - Ubeda, Spain: John is named honorary president of the Internation Film Music Conference. Many of his scores will be highlighted in a live concert. |
